Synopsis
Brent crude oil, English Brent oil, is produced in the Brent region of the North Atlantic North Sea. Futures trading on the London Intercontinental Exchange and the New York Mercantile Exchange is the benchmark for oil prices in the market. Brent is a light, sweet crude oil produced from the Brent and Ninian fields in the North Sea and is widely traded in futures, OTC swaps, forwards and spot markets. At present, more than 65% of the world's physical crude oil is priced through the Brent system. The shipping port of Brent crude oil is Sullom Voe in the Shetland Islands in the North Sea.
