Synopsis
Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency founded in 2011 by former Google employee Charlie Lee. Litecoin was released on October 7, 2011 via an open source client on Github. This currency shares many similarities with Bitcoin and is based on Bitcoin's original source code. Litecoin is a digital currency designed to provide a fast, secure and low-cost digital payment method. The creation and transfer of Litecoin is based on an open-source encrypted protocol that is not governed by any central authority.
