It is headquartered in Menlo Park, California, and owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and other social platform. Founded by Mark Elliott Zuckerberg and his Harvard roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes, the original name was TheFacebook.com, which was subsequently shortened to Facebook, was renamed Meta by Zuckerberg on October 28, 2021. As of June 30, 2018, the company had a total workforce of 30,275. The company operates a large social network with 1.47 billion daily active users as of the end of June 2018.
