Synopsis
Sugar, also known as white sugar, can be divided into sulfurized sugar and carbonized sugar according to different sugar-making processes. Carbonated sugar has a longer shelf life, better quality and relatively expensive price. The main producers of white sugar in the world are Brazil, India, the European Union, China, etc. In 1998-1999, the world produced 132.3 million tons of raw sugar. White sugar production generally has the following characteristics: First, unlike other crops, sugar can not be directly turned into a commodity after harvest, and must be processed industrially. Second: because industrial processing requires a large investment in equipment, when the sugar price is high, the increase in processing capacity lags behind; similarly, when the sugar price is low, the processing capacity is not easy to reduce quickly. Therefore, the price fluctuation cycle of sugar is longer than that of general agricultural products. Sugar is a relatively important commodity in the world.
