Transaction Fee of a Record $3.1 Million Paid for a Bitcoin Transfer
On Thursday, Antpool, a mining pool owned by Bitmain, received a transaction fee of an unprecedented $3.1 million for a bitcoin transfer that occurred in block 818087. However, the intended recipient solely obtained 55.78 BTC out of the 139.42 BTC that were initially sent.

A bitcoin transmission on Thursday reportedly incurred an unprecedented transaction fee of $3.1 million, as reported by CoinDesk. In addition to the standard 6.25 BTC, Bitcoin miner Antpool was compensated 85.2163 BTC in fees for all transactions included in the block for mining the block. The transfer, which was mined in block 818087, incurs the highest transaction fee in the fourteen-year annals of bitcoin. Only minutes before the transfer, the sender established their wallet, and the recipient received 55.78 BTC of the 139.42 BTC that were originally intended to be sent.
Paxos erroneously transmitted a 19.8 BTC fee, which F2Pool subsequently refunded in September. Bitmain-owned AntPool, a mining pool, has refrained from issuing a statement concerning the overcharged fee. In recent times, bitcoin transaction fees have risen substantially due to heightened interest in the Bitcoin-based non-fungible token (NFT) project Ordinals. It appears, however, that this transaction was the result of an isolated error and not a market-wide repercussion. Antpool did not respond to CoinDesk's request for comment at this time.
