Paradigm Declares the Debut of the Reth AlphaNet Testnet
With intentions to perpetually innovate Ethereum's second layer network, Paradigm has launched the Reth AlphaNet testnet, a customizable, high-performance rollup based on the OP Stack standard. In the second quarter of this year, the company anticipates releasing the Reth SDK version 1.0 and formally launching AlphaNet.

BlockBeats reports that on April 16, Paradigm declared the commencement of the Reth AlphaNet testnet. The testnet, which is a compatible rollup built upon the OP Stack standard, is specifically engineered to optimize the efficacy of the Reth client and facilitate the evaluation of Ethereum's state-of-the-art research findings.
AlphaNet possesses a variety of features. Being a testnet rollup, it possesses no tangible asset value. Periodically, Paradigm may reconfigure the network in order to implement revolutionary modifications. It has implemented a number of Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) that are not yet supported by the majority of other networks. These EIPs include EIP-3074, EIP-7212, and EIP-2537, which provide support for elliptic curve operations and new instructions.
AlphaNet is dedicated to surpassing the 'gigagas' speed of one billion gases per second, while Reth, in various configurations, can accomplish an execution speed of ten to thirty billion gas particles per second. With the exception of 1500 lines of Rust code designated for testing purposes, the codebase has been optimized and is now distributed under an Apache/MIT license.
Notable is the fact that AlphaNet is constructed upon Reth as opposed to a derivative. It incorporates numerous Reth SDK-provided characteristics, enabling extensive customization without the necessity of a derivative. Proficient developers have the ability to interchange critical components like EVM, RPC, and Mempool.
According to Paradigm, the objective of AlphaNet is to furnish developers with an experimental infrastructure that can facilitate the advancement of the second layer network and consistently surpass the performance limitations of Reth. Launching a hosted version of AlphaNet, releasing a compatible Foundry toolchain, and experimenting with new features such as EIP-3074 using the Rivet wallet are all components of the short-term strategy for AlphaNet.
Paradigm intends to continue incorporating additional EIPs and implement technologies such as parallel EVM, JIT/AOT optimization, state leasing, and others on AlphaNet over the medium to long term. The overarching objective is to collaborate with the community in order to advance the growth of Ethereum and its second layer ecosystem. Version 1.0 of the Reth SDK is anticipated by Paradigm to be released in the second quarter of this year, coinciding with the official launch of AlphaNet.
