Bitcoiners in El Salvador are teaching 12-year-olds how to send sats
In El Salvador, those engaged in the use of Bitcoin actively impart knowledge to adolescents aged 12, instructing them on the process of transmitting small units of the cryptocurrency, commonly referred to as "sats."

In El Salvador, almost 25,000 kids have studied about Bitcoin in the classroom.
El Salvadorian schoolchildren as young as 12 years old are being orange-pilled – trained to send their first Bitcoin transaction by Bitcoin Beach members.
According to Bitcoin Beach community organizer Roman Martnez, early-age education on Bitcoin, money, and the economy may build the groundwork for many of the poor youngsters he teaches to have a better chance in life.
Martnez mentioned that Bitcoin Beach organizes after-school activities to help students get started with Bitcoin.
A satoshi, or sat, is the smallest unit of Bitcoin, with one BTC equaling 100 million sats.
Martnez stated that students had welcomed the technology, despite many first believing that Bitcoin was difficult to learn or was just for those studying economics.
"It's so simple once [they're] willing to learn," he added.
He explained that Bitcoin Beach focuses a heavy emphasis on teaching pupils about Bitcoin, money, and banking because these topics are rarely covered in school.
Martnez considers Bitcoin to be the "latest evolution of money," and believes that teaching children about the benefits of Bitcoin, in conjunction with other life skills, will enable them to pursue better work prospects.
“If they know English, have computer skills, know about Bitcoin and know about marketing, they can work remotely for anyone around the world,” he explained. “This is a big door that is open now for everyone.”
According to its whitepaper, Bitcoin Beach is a movement dedicated to realizing Bitcoin's potential by assisting those who have been disenfranchised from the banking system.
Its headquarters are in El Zonte, a seaside town about an hour's drive southwest of the country's capital, San Salvador, and one of the first in the country to accept Bitcoin.
My First Bitcoin, another Bitcoin education NGO established in El Salvador, has assisted 25,000 students in obtaining a "Bitcoin Diploma" through the country's public school system.
Approximately 70% of Salvadorans are now unbanked. Financial inclusion has been a priority for pro-Bitcoin President Nayib Bukele, who, according to some reports, has one of the highest presidential approval rates in the world.
Many Bitcoin-related initiatives were sparked by El Salvador's government's world-first decision to declare Bitcoin legal tender in the country in September 2021.
