The head of the Financial Services Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, Representative Maxine Waters, stated in a tweet on Monday that FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried must appear at the panel's hearing on December 13 in person.

After Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX, said on Sunday that he will testify before the committee after "learning and examining" the circumstances leading to the dramatic failure of his cryptocurrency exchange, Waters tweeted shortly after.

Bankman-Fried said he was uncertain whether it would occur prior to December 13.
